Public Workshop
On Monday, June 12, at 6pm at the Fire Station, we are holding a community workshop to help the Town prioritize action areas to increase the Town’s resilience to natural disasters and weather-related events (rainstorms, coastal flooding, extreme heat / cold, etc.), as well as help the Town increase energy efficiency and lower energy costs, both for itself and its residents (think weatherization, heat pumps, LED lights, solar, etc.).
This workshop is part of the Town’s process for applying for grant funding from the state through its Community Resilience Partnership program. The first grant that the Town will be applying for as part of this program will be for engineering and design costs for shoreline stabilization in at least two locations (Auditorium Park and Bayview Park, and possibly in places along Shore Road).
The discussion will include topics from the Community Resilience Self-Evaluation and List of Community Actions. Reviewing both of these documents before the meeting will be helpful but is not required.
Please take this survey, which will help guide the discussion and the Town’s future actions.
We hope that this will be the first part of an ongoing dialogue in which the Town will be asking for help in prioritizing the steps for the Town to take to help prepare for natural disasters, reduce energy costs, and save money in the long run.
There are lots of funding opportunities flowing to towns like ours from state and federal agencies, and it would be smart for us to take advantage of them. This workshop will help us figure out where to focus our attention as we move forward.
Food will be provided.
Contact James Kossuth at [email protected] or 338-3819×6 with any questions or to RSVP (for a headcount for the food).
