The transfer station may be closed for holidays, such as July 4, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. If you are looking to see if we will be closed, announcements will be posted on the home page.
Trash stickers are $3.00 each and may be purchased at the Town Office, Wentworth’s Grocery, or at the Transfer Station, which is by check only. Please come prepared with checks to the Transfer Station.
EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2022, THE OLD (ORANGE) STICKERS ARE NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED. YOU MAY TRADE IN YOUR ORANGE STICKERS AT THE TOWN OFFICE FOR NEW (BLUE) STICKERS FOR $1.00 EACH.

You must be a Northport resident to use the Transfer Station. A NORTHPORT sticker must be displayed on the front of the vehicle visible to the Transfer Station Attendants.
The transfer station will be closed on the following holidays:
New Year’s Day (January 1)
Juneteenth (June 19)
Independence Day (July 4)
Veterans Day (November 11)
Thanksgiving Day (Fourth Thursday in November)
Christmas Day (December 25)

The Town has an arrangement with ScrapDogs Community Compost for them to use the Transfer Station as a drop-off location for their subscribers. Contact ScrapDogs for more information or to sign up.
Zero-sort recycling at the Transfer Station:
Toss all recyclables into one bin.
The following items may now be recycled at the Transfer Station:
Cardboard:
Cereal boxes, pizza boxes, paper towel cores, etc.
Paper:
Newspapers, junk mail, envelopes, catalogs, soft cover books, telephone books, brown bags, magazines and inserts, etc.
Plastic:
Containers with #1 through #7 (Milk jugs, bleach/detergent/shampoo bottles, etc.)
Glass:
Bottles and containers, any color
Metal:
Aluminum, tin, steel containers, (Kitchen cans, soup cans, aluminum pie plates/trays/foil, etc.)
Do not recycle these items:
Window glass, mirrors, light bulbs, dishes, pyrex, ceramics, foam packaging, styrofoam, plastic bags. Recyclables containing food, waste, paint or oils. Hazardous materials or universal waste.
PLEASE DO NOT RECYCLE ANY ITEM THAT CONTAINS BODILY FLUIDS. THIS WOULD INCLUDE TISSUES AND WOMEN’S FEMININE PRODUCTS. PLEASE DISPOSE OF THESE ITEMS WITH YOUR REGULAR HOUSEHOLD TRASH.
